Mercedes-AMG E63 S Wagon Starts at $107,945.
While BMW and Audi are happy to keep the M5 Touring and RS6 Avant only with themselves, Mercedes is actually thinking from the point of view of us poor yanks and they made it clear by launching the five door version of E63 S.
We’ve already seen a few generation of this family hauler previously and now it looks that the all new Mercedes-AMG E63 S Wagon is here to continue the legacy. Now, finally after a few months of debut, the automaker has finally priced the AMG, starting at $107,945.
Now that’s a hell lot of money for an AMG, despite the six digit minimum cost of entry. Well its big money big car as the Mercedes-AMG E63 S Wagon is powered by 4.0 litre twin turbocharged V-8, producing whooping 603 hp and 627 lb ft of torque. This twisting force is distributed to all four wheels through Mercedes’s own nine-speed automatic transmission, returning a tremendous 0-60 mph sprint in just 3.4 seconds and a top speed limited to 180 mph.
It’s not just blistering in a straight line, Mercedes claims that the E63 S is the fastest wagon around the Nürburgring, clocking in an official time of 7:45.19.
This is the third generation of AMG(ified) E-Class Wagon we’ve been seeing from the Mercedes. Our first taste of five-door AMG fun was the W212 E55 launched back in 2005.
Above was one of the last of the supercharged AMGs, packing a 5.4 litre SuperCharged V-8, spitting an output of 469 hp and 510 lb ft of torque. Despite pent up demand, just 279 of these were ordered in the ‘States. Although sales improved for the W212 which again ended with 992 units.
